From percolation to the Color Glass Condensate

چکیده
I review the problem of parton saturation and its implications through three in principal different approaches, but somewhat related: saturation in a geometrical approach, QCD saturation through the Color Glass Condensate and perturbative Pomeron approach with initial conditions. I also make some comments about how that could be related to a Quark Gluon Plasma formation. PACS: 12.38.Mh, 24.85.+p, 25.75.Nq

We argue that clustering of color sources, leading to the percolation transition, may be the way to achieve deconfinement in heavy ion collisions. The critical density for percolation is related to the effective critical temperature of the thermal bath asociated to the presence of strong color fields inside the percolating cluster. We find that the temperature is rapidity, centrality and energy...
متن کاملThe Color Glass Condensate and the Glasma: Two Lectures
These two lectures concern the Color Glass Condensate and the Glasma. These are forms of matter which might be studied in high energy hadronic collisions. The Color Glass Condensate is high energy density gluonic matter. It constitutes the part of a hadron wavefunction important for high energy processes. The Glasma is matter produced from the Color Glass Condensate in the first instants after ...
متن کاملSaturation Physics and Deuteron–Gold Collisions at RHIC
We present a review of parton saturation/Color Glass Condensate physics in the context of deuteron-gold (d+Au) collisions at RHIC. Color Glass Condensate physics is a universal description of all high energy hadronic and nuclear interactions. It comprises classical (McLerran-Venugopalan model and Glauber-Mueller rescatterings) and quantum evolution (JIMWLK and BK equations) effects both in smal...
متن کاملA New Glassy State of Matter: The Color Glass Condensate
In response to recent announcements in the international scientific community, we are pleased to give a brief overview of a new experimental claim that the Color Glass Condensate, an additional sixth state of matter, has been observed. The previously known states of matter include solid, liquid, gas, plasma, and the Bose–Einstein condensate. In the traditional use of the words from our field of...
متن کاملParton Percolation and J/ψ Suppression
The geometric clustering of partons in the transverse plane of nuclear collisions leads for increasing A or √ s to percolation. In the resulting condensate, the partons are de-confined but not yet in thermal equilibrium. We discuss quarkonium dissociation in this precursor of the quark-gluon plasma, with an onset of dissociation when the saturation scale of the parton condensate reaches that of...
